Barrie is an experienced executive who has over 25 years of experience in the manufacturing industry as well as 15 years in the Research and Education sector, including 12 years in leadership roles at Australia’s National Science Agency the CSIRO. Over this time, Barrie has been involved in many different roles including CEO, Director, general management, alloy and process development, software development, marketing management, manufacturing, engineering, quality management, R&D Management, export sales management and business development. Barrie has also been responsible for establishing international manufacturing plants and is experienced in dealing with global customers, suppliers and partners. He has created a number of spin-off ventures, co-operative research centres and start-ups and has been involved in several others through their entire lifecycle.
Barrie has a Bachelor of Applied Science and an MBA Technology Management from Deakin University, and a Diploma from the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Barrie’s main areas of technical expertise are Non Ferrous Metallurgy, Additive Manufacturing and conventional manufacturing technologies (casting, extrusion, forging and metal finishing).
Since joining Amaero in 2016, Barrie led the process of forming Amaero International Limited and listing on the Australian Stock Exchange and built deep partnerships with key players in the Aviation Defence and Space sectors. In his present role of CTO and GM of Australian Operations he oversees the R&D activities of the group.
