Correlation between microstructure and mechanical properties in L-PBF metal additive manufacturing
Annalisa Pola is Full professor of Metallurgy at the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering (DIMI) - University of Brescia - since November 2019. Previously, she was associate professor and assistant professor.
Since the beginning of her career, she has been working on research topics related to the Metallurgy field, as demonstrated by her publications in scientific journals and conference proceedings. She serves also as guest editor and reviewer for various indexed journals and she’s member of international committees (e.g. S2P, HPDC, etc.) and conference organizing committees. Her scientific activity is mainly focused on the study and characterization of metal additive manufacturing products, on the optimization of heat treatments of ferrous and non-ferrous alloys, on the correlations between microstructure and mechanical properties of alloys; etc.
From the industrial point of view, she is leader of many research contracts and projects financed by companies as well as leader and partner in funded research projects. She in member of different national industrial committees dealing with metallurgy and technical editor of an industrial magazine. As an academic, she holds various institutional roles within the organization. Professor of four courses in the master programmes at the University of Brescia, since 2013 she is also fly-in professor for the Material science and Material selection engineering courses at GUtech (Muscat-Oman). Supervisor of PhD students and fellows since 2005, as well as supervisor of numerous thesis projects (the majority in collaboration with industries) and tutor of many internships.
